Sit - Stand Solutions
Sit - Stand Solutions allow the computer operator to change their position from sitting to standing and back again, and still continue to work at their computer. These types of solutions are often required by people with back problems, as maintaining one posture can exacerbate their back pain symptoms.
One option is to replace your desk with either an electically or manually height-adjustable desk. This option, especially the electrically adjustable version, can be expensive. This page offers suggestions that can help turn your existing desk into a sit - stand workstation. However, always make sure that your existing desk can accommodate the devices you are considering. For example, keyboard arms require a certain amount of unobstructed space on the undersurface of the desktop in order to mount the track. An adjustable stabilizing leg is included which provides a solid work surface when the unit is in the standing position. This sit-to-stand workstation is available in Cherry, Light Maple, Black or Putty finish. If you need additional workspace, you can add up to two 11.5" x 11.5" detachable work surface accessories. NOTE: In the sitting position, the lowered work surface will still be raised about 1" - 1.5" above the desk surface. This may require additional chair height adjustment for a proper ergonomic positioning. NOTE: When calculating the distance of monitor screen to user, the horizontal distance from the back of the base to the front of the monitor needs to be subtracted from 21" (distance from front end of keyboard platform to back of monitor platform) to give an accurate measure of the distance. Monitor screens over 20" may come too close for viewing comfortably. |
